Background

  • On 15 May 2025, ThinkYoung launched the second edition of its report series investigating the role of digital advertising for social movements entitled “Digital Ads: Creating the Right Ad Tech Ecosystem for Privacy-Friendly Innovation and Growth in Europe,” at the European Parliament in Brussels. The event brought together EU policymakers, startups, nonprofits, and social enterprises to explore how ethical and targeted digital advertising supports issue awareness, impact, innovation and growth.
  • Building on this momentum, ThinkYoung is organising a follow-up event in Warsaw, focusing on the local context, needs, and digital landscape in Poland. This will be the second event in the series and takes place during Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union – an important moment to ensure Polish voices and priorities are heard and elevated in shaping Europe’s digital future.
  • Context Digital advertising has become a powerful and cost-effective tool for a wide range of actors – from small businesses and startups to charities and civil society organisations. As highlighted in both the Draghi report and ThinkYoung’s new publication, investments in digital tools are critical to Europe’s competitiveness, innovation, and social progress.
  • The event in Warsaw aims to examine how digital advertising is used by Polish actors, explore their experiences and challenges, and include insights from practitioners on how they use digital ads in practice – balancing growth, innovation, and privacy.

Objectives

  • Explore how digital ads are being used by Polish startups, nonprofits, and social enterprises to boost growth, reach the right audiences, and drive change.
  • Highlight how digital advertising is shaping the online experiences of young people in Poland and across Europe
  • Analyse how digital platforms and advertising can better reflect the values, aspirations, and expectations of younger generations.

Format

  • In-person workshop/roundtable event in Warsaw to share challenges and best practices.
  • Keynote/presentation of case study insights from the new ThinkYoung report.
  • Contributions from panellists spanning civil society, industry, and government in Poland
  • Interactive Q&A to discuss, learn best practices, and highlight ways forward for digital policy and innovation in Poland and across the EU.
